I'm waiting for the rain to fall
about nobody and nothing I am
I am just waiting for the rain to fall
I'm waiting for the rain to fall on me again
grey sky pushed inside the sky
and slippers and heat and the cats wet street window
electric evergreen love here
we are together in this recorded sound
waiting between the sheets of invisible matter
that really doesn't matter does it
the road spaces in-between the forest I passed
in the last lane going home to you
now here in my dreams
the piano awaits me and my candle
and the sound I wrap my love in now
tight and protected from the people storms
and the battered mountains in the dark
and the cold that youth once scoffed at
now the humbled and ageing soul
outside the yellow cab to the beyond
just watches and wonders at it all
will you come out of the screen and the light and the sun
in the nick of time
become here with me now like skin
and mornings entangled
will you come out of the lonely and the cold
out of me and into me and here the heart beats again
to fires and sheets and music and laughters silence
probably not
I'm waiting for the rain to fall
to pack up and leave
to stay and give it all away again
the candle burning is in me now
the one I need is here
only in me
blazing white and empty sky
like bells and the angles singing a minor chord
she sings to me
with train track metal horns blaring out of this view
this earths turning rock of white and blue ice snow
white light of the sun
I am here with it all again
inside the oceans water eye
reflecting the path from the moon
we have trapped ourselves here with words again
turning paradise into a poisoned fire
the promise into the pain
I let go of this promise and stand alone
and walk the spiral path into the world again
waiting for it to rain
waiting for it to rain again
